When you learn how to be more efficient, you get more done with less effort and time, and you tend to do it better, all things being equal. When you can do that, you can reduce your stress level because you’ll have more breathing room and more confidence in your abilities. This week, we’re going to talk about how being more efficient can reduce your stress.

Learn to Delegate

Efficiency isn’t just about getting things done like the productive goddess you are. It also means getting others to help you out. That’s hard for a lot of us, but you need to learn to ask for assistance from others in your work, home, and social life. Being a good delegator will take pressure off of you, which means less stress.

Use Your Time Wisely

An increase in efficiency is going to mean more gets done, but it will take less time. Don’t fall into the temptation of then filling your time up again. Instead, constantly look for ways to do things better and in less time so you can have some breathing room. Allowing a buffer in time and effort lets your body and mind relax, keeping your stress hormone, cortisol, at bay.

Remember, it’s about using your energy in a smart way that serves you best. Conserving your energy by being more efficient allows you to live a healthier, lower stress life on your own terms.

Next Sunday, we’ll talk about how you can answer the dreaded “What’s for dinner?” question.
