Here’s your friendly reminder that it’s almost Mother’s Day! Each year, the second Sunday of May is designated to show our moms how much they mean to us; and if your mom is all about living a healthy lifestyle, these gift ideas will show her just how much you care and support her. This week, we’re going to talk about some healthy gift ideas for Mother’s Day.

A Subscription for Meal Kit Delivery

If your mom is an aspiring chef or just loves to cook, a subscription for HelloFresh, Blue Apron, or any of the meal kit delivery services makes a great gift. They’ll deliver fresh, healthy ingredients with step-by-step instructions. That way, she doesn’t have to make a trip to the grocery store (big these days!), and she gets a delicious meal idea she doesn’t have to come up with.

A Spa/Salon/Nail/Massage Gift Certificate

Everyone deserves some time to kick back and relax while being taken care of! A gift certificate for some self-care that leaves her feeling refreshed and fresh looking is an ideal way to show your mom some love. With social distancing rules now, you’ll support a local business during these hard times and give her something to look forward to.

A Personal Training Gift Certificate

If your mom doesn’t already have a trainer, a session with a professional trainer is a great way to get her out of a fitness rut or help her refresh her workout. A personal trainer will work with her one-on-one to show her the correct technique, new routines and what workouts work for her goals. You can also think outside the box and give her a gift certificate for private Pilates or yoga sessions if the gym isn’t her thing.

Foam Roller

A foam roller is like your own personal masseuse you can use in the comfort of your own home. If your mom loves to work out or has some tightness in her muscles, a foam roller helps loosen up tight muscles and keeps the soreness at bay.

Gym Bag

A fun new gym bag will keep your mom organized and fashionable. You could also stuff it with mini locker room necessities like travel-size hair care, deodorant, cleansing wipes, make-up remover, and a fitness towel.

Fair Trade Fitness Gear

Sustainable threads designed by ethical fashion companies are so in for fitness clothing. Not only will your mom be able to stretch and move without unsightly seams or uncomfortable fits, she’ll feel good about where the clothes are coming from. Brands like Patagonia, Prana, PACT, and even Adidas create sustainable clothing using good environmental and labor standards.

Fancy Pajamas

Relaxation is the way to any mom’s heart, and no matter what she wears to bed, getting a set of fancy pajamas is a direct line to winning the best kid award. Gaiam carries a line of pajamas made from bamboo and cotton that are super soft and my favorite.

A Book

No matter what your mom is into - cooking, working out, yoga - there is a book out there for it. Finding a book on a subject you know your mom is into lets her know you pay attention to what she likes and gives her something interesting to do in her free time.

Next Sunday, we’ll talk about risk factors that can cause osteoporosis.
