February 14, 2021: Self-Love and Acceptance
Do you ever use affirmations? This week, we’re going to talk about using affirmations for self love and acceptance - just in time for Valentine's Day!
There’s a psychology and communication theory that tells us we can “speak things into existence.” This is because our perception of the world is our reality, and what we continually tell ourselves becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Using this idea, researchers have found that positive self-talk and using positive statements about ourselves - affirmations - can help shape our realities in the way we wish.
This week, we’re going to choose an affirmation to use a few times a day - everyday - to change our mindset to one of self-love and acceptance. Here are some to try; or you can create your own.
I believe in who I am, even as I better myself.
I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances.
I am worthy of happiness and love.
Everything about me is lovable and worthy of love.
I appreciate my body’s unique traits.
I am thankful for my body and all it can do.
I appreciate every cell in my body.
I feed my body healthy food and give it exercise because it deserves to be taken care of.
Food is not good or bad. It has no moral significance.
My body can do awesome things.
I accept myself as I am right now, and this is the first step in growing and evolving.
Next Sunday, we’ll talk about how to prevent sickness with four key lifestyle factors.
