4 Tips for Getting Health and Fitness Back on Track

Improving your health and nutrition is never easy. If it were, no one would ever be in the position to need to do so, and it would be something we do automatically. But for most, being able to adjust how they treat and fuel their body can offer many benefits that will support them through life and help them get to where they want to be.

A poor diet and unhealthy lifestyle will impact many areas of your life and leave you feeling nothing's going right, but these tips can help you to move past things and find a balance that works for you to support you how you need it to.

Coaching

Coaching can be beneficial in many parts of your life, from Mind Body Performance Coaching to nutritional coaching, career coaching, exercise coaching and just general life coaching sessions. If you feel you need some support, then talking to others who have experience in helping others in these situations can be instrumental in your getting on the right path to what is best for you.

Track Your Metrics

To get your health and fitness going in the right direction, you need to be tracking what you are doing to get a better idea of where you are and your starting point. Track your calories and food type intake, track your weight each day to get an idea of how it fluctuates and how your current lifestyle impacts it daily, track sleep, exercise, steps, habits, work patterns and anything else you think you will need to make changes. Do this for a couple of weeks to see what is going on, and then you can use this data to make the right changes.

Move More

Not just getting in the gym, although this would be beneficial to many people if possible, but simply moving your body more can help you improve your fitness and reach your goals. Aim to increase your current step count by 1,000 a day at first and see how easy it is to do. Then, you can continue to increase this as you progress. You can also add in any other type of physical activity, but you should aim to do 30 minutes per day and raise your heart rate during those 30 minutes. It doesn't have to be all so nice. You can break it into 3 10-minute sessions if you wish, but this is an excellent goal to aim for at first.

80/20

The 80/20 rule is popular these days amongst fitness influencers. It essentially means that you should ensure that 80% of your daily diet is whole, nutritious foods while the other 20% is foods you like. So, let's say your daily calories are 2,000. Then, 20% of this is 400 calories per day for that treat you want. This can be instrumental in stopping you from throwing in the towel as you've deprived yourself of too much of what you enjoy. You don't need to use the complete 20% each day; giving yourself the option can help you to stop bingeing.

Improving your health and fitness will take time to get right, so see what works for you. You will hit your goals by making small changes, tracking your progress, and being consistent.
