You’ve started at the gym. You’ve changed the way you eat to include healthier food choices. You’ve followed the advice and your plan, your trainer has set for you…but, you’re not losing weight yet. This week, we’re going to talk about how long it will take to see weight loss results.
I know how it feels to be doing everything “right” but not seeing results on the scale, in the mirror, in your clothes, or on the measuring tape. It’s frustrating!
But what I can tell you is this: It will happen. If you’re already living out your healthy lifestyle and changing your habits; it’s just a matter of time.
You see, everyone is different—which means that you may not see results as quickly as someone else. But if you’re getting great nutrition in the correct portions and moving more, the weight will come off. It might be slower than you’d like…
I know. :-(
But, this is exactly what you want. Average healthy weight loss should be 1-2 pounds a week. You may lose more or less than that some weeks. It’s not an exact science.
After a week or two, you may notice your weight loss will start slowing. This is often due to your body making the adjustments it needs to slow your metabolism and prevent too much energy from escaping. That’s fine!
Although this may be frustrating, it’s important to understand that by continuing with your plan, the weight will continue to come off. You’ll certainly start feeling better very quickly.
Keep with it! Be patient and just stay consistent before you switch anything up. If over a month you’re not seeing much progress (as in, you’re losing less than 1 pound a week *on average*), try switching ONE thing to see if that helps. For example, walk more each day or drink more water or sleep more.
I repeat - be patient. You’ve got this.
Next Sunday, we’ll talk about quality and quantity when it comes to your food intake.
