Have you been thinking about eating better? Maybe you’re looking to make some changes to your diet so you can feel better and more energetic. Maybe you want to lose weight. This week, we’re going to talk about the most important things to know before changing your nutrition program.
Nothing Will Happen Overnight
Change takes time. So, it’s not going to happen overnight. Yes, you may see some changes in the first few weeks, but creating lasting changes to your nutrition is a process.
Don’t look for quick fixes that promise change overnight. Instead, stick with the tried-and-true methods - especially if you’re making these changes with a goal of losing weight.
Not only will you have more long-term success, you will feel better about yourself after accomplishing your goals.
The Scale May Not Move Like You Think
If you’re trying to lose weight with these changes, there’s a good chance that the scale will not move for a while. But, it doesn’t mean you’re not making changes in your body.
You may be losing inches—which is a good sign you’re losing body fat. This is especially true if you’ve been focusing on eating more protein and fiber.
Superfoods are Important but Not Magic
There are plenty of ads on TV touting superfoods as a way to perfect health. But it’s important to note that superfoods are only one piece in the healthy nutrition puzzle. A well-balanced diet is going to lead to better health instead of eating one lonely superfood. Include your superfoods in your balanced diet with protein, carbs, and healthy fats.
You Will Have to Be Mindful of Your Intake
While it’s important to get lots of the good stuff into your diet, like fruit and vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats, you need to be mindful of how much you’re eating. As healthy as walnuts are, they will pack on the pounds if you eat them mindlessly or in more than their serving size.
Next Sunday, we’ll talk about whether you should do cardio or weights first in your workout routine.
