Healthy Items to Tote on Your Travels

Whether you travel often for business or pleasure -- or just enjoy the infrequent vacation away -- knowing what to pack helps your trip go smoothly. A few non-negotiable items always make it on the packing list, and some are great to have if you have the extra room. Here's a list of the healthy items you can carry to help keep up your healthy habits while you're away from home.

Moisturizer

Traveling can leave our skin extra thirsty. Be sure you take a travel-sized version of moisturizer on the plane with you to quench your dehydrated skin -- that cabin air can really dry things out and your skin.

Proper Probiotics

If your biggest fear when traveling is coming down with stomach troubles, take along probiotics. You can also focus on eating probiotic-rich foods while you're away, like kimchi, yogurt, and sauerkraut. Pick up a kombucha to up the probiotic benefits, as well.

Protein Powder

Taking protein powder with you that you can easily add to a cup of coffee is a life-changing travel item. In pouch form, you can carry it on your flight or have it quickly packed away for when the need strikes.

Protein Bars

Pick one low in sodium and high in protein and fiber. It doesn't hurt if it tastes good too, which is why Quest or Think! bars may be a good option, though any that you find palatable will do the trick.

Jet Lag Supplements

You may struggle to adjust when your travels take you through different time zones. That can make it hard for you to get a good night's sleep at your destination. By traveling with jet lag supplements, you'll relieve jet lag and all the side effects that come with it, so you are well-rested and ready from the start.

Electrolyte Powder

It can be challenging to keep up with your hydration requirements on a normal day, so it can take extra focus when you're traveling. Having a healthy electrolyte powder to mix with water for a hydration boost will help keep things running smoothly. The right electrolyte supplement helps restore and replenish your body's sodium, potassium, and magnesium stores so you'll feel balanced. These also come in small packets that are easy to toss in your bag and carry with you wherever you go, making them the perfect travel companion.

With these healthy items in your carry-on, you will be far less likely to flounder during your travels. Having a healthy balance even when far from home means you'll still make wise choices with meals and have enough energy to do all the activities you have been planning for your trip.
